ALBINS 986S/996 SHORT/CLOSE RATIO GEAR KIT

Stock gear ratios are designed for drivability and fuel economy and not necessarily for best performance. Whether you have a stock motor or one that has been tuned your transmissions’ gear ratios may not be optimum for your driving needs. Optimizing your gears to match your engines’ power curves can make a huge difference on the track, often resulting in reduced lap times, and can give the sensation that there has been a gain in power. Alternative gear ratios can make the car more fun to drive or be more drivable.

We offer a short/close ratio gear kit that replaces the stock 3^rd-6^th gears greatly reducing the RPM drops from 2^nd to 6^th allowing you to better stay on the cam.

We offer OEM replacement sets as well as Albins made sets-and in ratios that the factory never produced. These high quality hypoid gear sets are produced on the same cutting equipment and with the same design as OEM.

Help put your power to the ground more effectively and add stability with a limited slip. This is an improvement for a street car and a must for track car.

We offer both OEM rebuilt and new aftermarket asymmetrical locking differentials from various suppliers.

Rebuild parts and services are also available.

Note: In order to use a LSD in a 996 transmission that originally came without, your existing axle flanges will need to be machined or replaced with ones that use BOLTS.

After extensive testing and development we are proud to announce a new component related to the internal shift mechanism that promotes far better and more reliable engagement to 2^nd gear with a newly designed profile.

This will allow for a more proper engagement of the synchro teeth and will not result in any unwanted changes to other critical settings unlike backyard “modifications” do.

Precision machined from 4130 Chromoly.
